Originally from Minnesota, Joan moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to study design at the Academy of Art University. Since then, she’s built a career designing textiles, print + pattern, and a wide range of home products meant to be used, loved, and lived with.

Joan brings a deep, hands-on understanding of the product development process, guiding ideas from trend research and concept development through CAD execution, sampling, and production. She’s worked across soft goods, tabletop, and decorative home, holding both design and leadership roles at Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma and contributing to best-selling collections found in homes around the world.

Passionate about innovation and visual storytelling, Joan draws inspiration from global trends, materials, and techniques to create elevated, functional designs. She thrives on leading and mentoring creative teams, fostering collaboration across product development, sourcing, and production, and sharing her knowledge with designers at every stage of their careers.
